This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define and oversee the overall architecture of the web platform, making critical decisions regarding frontend frameworks, design patterns, performance strategies, and scalability.
• Engage in hands-on design and code reviews, prototyping essential systems, and establishing standards for implementation quality.
• Lead the advancement of the core platform, including rendering patterns (SSR/SSG/CSR), design implementation, and micro-frontend architecture.
• Set and uphold standards for accessibility (WCAG), performance budgets, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Manage technical debt decisions by identifying, prioritizing, and resolving systemic engineering challenges.
• Architect and direct the development of embedded web experiences, such as in-app webviews, iFrame-based integrations, embedded SDKs, and white-label platforms.
• Ensure that embedded platform solutions adhere to strict performance, security, and sandboxing requirements across various host environments.
• Define communication protocols between embedded web layers and native or third-party host applications.
• Promote standardization of web components and the integration of design systems for use across embedded contexts.
• Define and take ownership of the engineering quality framework, which includes testing strategies (unit, integration, e2e, visual regression), CI/CD pipelines, and release processes.
• Establish SLOs/SLAs for web platform reliability, performance, and availability; lead incident response and conduct blameless post-mortems.
• Advocate for a culture centered around documentation, observability, and operational readiness.
• Implement and refine engineering practices, including code review standards, sprint rituals, and technical planning processes.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of senior engineers, tech leads, and engineering managers across web engineering disciplines.
• Oversee hiring for the web engineering organization, setting the standard for technical assessment and cultural fit.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership on roadmap planning, headcount strategy, and cross-functional OKRs.
• Represent web engineering in executive forums, effectively communicating technical strategy and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• A minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a senior engineering leadership role (Director, Principal Engineer, or equivalent).
• Extensive, hands-on expertise in modern web technologies, including TypeScript, React (or Vue/Angular), Node.js, GraphQL/REST, and browser platform APIs.
• Proven experience in designing and scaling production web architectures that serve high-traffic, global audiences.
• Demonstrated success in building and deploying embedded web products (webviews, SDKs, iFrame integrations, widget platforms).
• Strong understanding of web performance optimization, including Core Web Vitals, rendering strategies, bundle optimization, caching, and observability.
• Significant experience with contemporary CI/CD practices, automated testing frameworks, and DevOps tools.
