Director, Transmission & Interconnection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the strategy and implementation of all grid interconnection initiatives within Vantage’s energy portfolio.

• Ensure that projects secure timely, compliant, and cost-efficient access to transmission and distribution networks.

• Responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of load and generation interconnection processes across ISOs and utilities.

• Act as both a technical expert and a strategic leader.

• Collaborate closely with Project Management, Infrastructure, and Commercial teams to ensure grid solutions align with development goals.

• Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to interconnection timelines, regulatory frameworks, and system limitations.

• Build, lead, and mentor a team of interconnection specialists.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Power Systems and an MBA are advantageous.

• More than 10 years of experience in transmission planning, interconnection, or power systems engineering.

• Experience in utility, developer, or power consulting settings.

• Extensive knowledge of ISO/RTO processes (ERCOT is highly preferred; SPP, PJM, MISO is a plus).

• Strong understanding of large load and/or generation interconnection processes.

• Familiarity with grid compliance and power quality requirements, including mitigation strategies.

• Proven track record of managing complex stakeholder relationships involving utilities, regulators, and consultants.

• Excellent analytical abilities related to cost, scheduling, and system constraints.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in building and managing technical teams.
