Director, Software Engineer – Hands-On

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Lead the design and development of some of the most critical and technically complex services within our ecosystem, emphasizing long-term, scalable, and sustainable solutions.

• Define and advance the technical vision for various teams, ensuring architectural consistency, system resilience, and alignment with product strategy.

• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders (Product, Design, Data, etc.) to prioritize and execute initiatives that drive business growth and enhance user experience.

• Mentor and empower engineering managers and tech leads, cultivating a high-performing culture focused on continuous improvement and technical excellence.

• Oversee integration efforts with third-party APIs and tools, ensuring seamless and secure interconnectivity across systems.

• Guide the modernization of legacy systems to improve scalability, performance, and developer experience.

• Advocate for operational excellence through best practices in monitoring, incident management, and system reliability.

• Foster a collaborative, agile environment where engineers are engaged, productive, and have clear paths for growth.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing and mentoring multiple high-performing engineering teams in a fast-paced, product-focused environment.

• Strong architectural expertise, with a history of designing and scaling complex, distributed systems and modern web applications.

• Extensive experience with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP, along with a robust understanding of cloud-native architecture patterns.

• Skilled in designing RESTful APIs and leading cross-functional collaboration between frontend and backend teams.

• Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and systems design.

• Experienced in both relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB), with knowledge of scaling and performance best practices.

• Capable of establishing a clear technical vision, effectively communicating it across teams, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.

• Proficient in one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Java, Ruby, Go, C++); experience with Golang is a plus.

• Strong communicator, able to influence across functions and geographies, with fluency in English and experience leading globally distributed teams.
