Director, PRMO Clinical Documentation Integrity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic and operational direction for all CDI functions throughout the health system.

• Design and execute CDI strategies that enhance documentation integrity, quality outcomes, reimbursement optimization, regulatory compliance, and clinical validation.

• Collaborate with physician leadership, Hospital Coding, Case Management, Quality, Compliance, Information Technology, and Revenue Cycle teams to enhance documentation accuracy and operational performance.

• Lead initiatives for provider education and engagement regarding clinical documentation standards, regulatory requirements, quality metrics, and reimbursement methodologies.

• Oversee CDI technology initiatives, including AI-enabled CDI tools, analytics platforms, EHR optimization, and support for provider documentation templates/content.

• Monitor and evaluate CDI performance metrics such as CMI, SOI/ROM, query activity, quality indicators, and reimbursement impact to promote continuous improvement.

• Ensure that CDI policies, procedures, workflows, and internal controls adhere to organizational, state, and federal regulations.

• Lead, develop, and mentor CDI staff through performance management, training, and professional development initiatives.

• Manage the departmental budget, vendor relationships, staffing resources, and operational priorities.

• Support organizational culture initiatives that foster collaboration, accountability, diversity, equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is required.

• A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in healthcare management, CDI, Hospital Coding, revenue cycle, or consulting is necessary.

• At least five years of this experience must include leadership responsibilities for people, programs, or projects.

• Preferred experience with Vizient methodology and quality performance metrics.

• Preferred experience with AI-enabled CDI technologies and workflow optimization tools.

• Preferred experience in building provider documentation templates/content and EHR optimization.

• Preferred experience with physician engagement and education initiatives.

• Preferred experience with clinical validation processes.
