This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Define and spearhead Routeware’s long-term UX strategy across the product portfolio, implementing a clear prioritization framework for initial investments.
• Foster the integration of visual language, interaction patterns, and information architecture across both acquired and native products.
• Create and maintain a scalable design system (including components, tokens, patterns, and accessibility primitives) for use by all product teams.
• Set and uphold UX, UI, and accessibility standards (minimum WCAG 2.2 AA) and establish governance to ensure compliance as products evolve.
• Integrate UX into our agile process: discovery, research, prototyping, validation, and release readiness — while avoiding bottlenecks.
• Define collaboration methods for PMs, engineers, and designers at each project phase, including lightweight rituals such as design reviews, critiques, and handoffs.
• Directly manage and develop our current UX designer. Mentor, support, and facilitate their growth. Prepare the hiring strategy and organizational design for the function as the team expands.
• Implement scalable, streamlined research practices for the team, including usability testing, journey mapping, and synthesizing customer feedback.
• Define and manage UX-specific success metrics (task completion, time-to-value, usability scores, onboarding friction). Co-manage product adoption and retention metrics with the Product team, driving continuous UX enhancement through experimentation.
• Utilize AI tools effectively to expedite the team's work, including prototyping (Figma AI, v0, etc.), research synthesis, content generation, and design quality assurance.
• 8+ years of experience in UX, Product Design, or Human-Centered Design, with increasing scope and impact.
• Proven experience in leading or mentoring designers; comfortable functioning as a player-coach with at least one direct report.
• Demonstrated success in establishing or significantly advancing a UX function — such as design systems, research practices, or design operations — within a SaaS environment.
• Strong portfolio showcasing systems thinking, multi-product or multi-platform work, and measurable UX results.
• Profound understanding of UX disciplines: research, information architecture, interaction design, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), and usability testing.
• Hands-on expertise in Figma.
• Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and contemporary product analytics tools.
• Proven track record of employing AI tools (Figma AI, v0, ChatGPT, research synthesis tools, etc.) to enhance design workflows.
• Exceptional communication skills with both technical and executive audiences.
• Comprehensive benefits package (medical with HSA option, vision, dental, and life insurance).
• Paid parental leave.
• Medical and Dependent FSA.
• 401K matching.
• Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO).
• Ten company holidays.
• One volunteer day.
• Summer Fridays.
