This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee and manage the Product function, acting as the primary decision-maker to ensure compliance.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Product team, including responsibilities for hiring, counseling, and performance evaluations.
• Perform Staffing Analysis based on the Product workload.
• Work with the Product team to implement changes in policies, coverage, or other underwriting rules.
• Assist in preparing and analyzing the annual budget.
• Supervise research, analysis, and testing related to product modifications, launches, and channel enhancements.
• Manage Underwriting Rate and Rule manuals, policy forms, declaration pages, disclosures, applications, and notices.
• Collaborate with actuarial teams to prepare state rate, rule, and form filings, as well as respond to inquiries from state insurance departments.
• Oversee research and analysis to provide recommendations for products and guidelines.
• Conduct ad-hoc analysis on specified or diverse metrics.
• Analyze metrics related to Underwriting practices and suggest efficiencies in workflows and tools, whether vendor or internal.
• Create presentations to support rate adjustments and other strategic decisions.
• Lead and collaborate with various departments to enhance underwriting processes and performance outcomes.
• Ensure the timely and accurate application of all underwriting, premium, and policy compliance guidelines and processes, supported by meaningful metrics and regular reporting of outcomes.
• Perform additional duties and/or special projects as needed.
• A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a Product role, specifically with California property products, is necessary.
• At least 5 years of experience in managing Product personnel.
• Solid working knowledge of Property & Casualty (P&C) policy contracts.
• Familiarity with ISO homeowners, dwelling property, and commercial property insurance policy language and procedures is advantageous.
• Strong grasp of rate-making principles and processes.
• Proficient in research and analysis, developing business cases, recommending process enhancements, and implementing product modifications.
• Ability to work independently and self-manage to meet deliverables.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective presentations.
