Director of Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance scalable backend services and platform infrastructure.

• Take ownership of essential platform components, including document ingestion pipelines, search and retrieval systems, APIs, and data models.

• Create and sustain AI-driven features such as RAG pipelines, LLM-based analysis, entity extraction, summarization, and intelligent retrieval systems.

• Integrate and assess contemporary AI technologies, vector databases, embedding pipelines, and orchestration frameworks.

• Elevate AI output quality, retrieval relevance, and system reliability in critical regulatory environments.

• Contribute to architectural decisions, system scalability, and engineering best practices.

• Write clear, maintainable, and well-tested code while upholding high code quality standards through reviews and technical guidance.

• Collaborate effectively with product, design, and domain teams to refine technical requirements and solution strategies.

• Mentor and guide engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

• Engage in hiring, technical assessments, and improvements in engineering processes.

• Support cloud-native deployments, CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments, and infrastructure automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–11 years of software engineering experience with a strong emphasis on SaaS platform development.

• Proficient in Python for backend systems, AI integrations, and data pipelines.

• Practical experience in developing LLM-powered applications, RAG architectures, and AI-driven retrieval systems.

• Familiarity with vector databases, embedding workflows, and modern LLM APIs.

• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, along with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.

• Experience in designing scalable REST or GraphQL APIs.

• Knowledge of React or contemporary frontend technologies is a plus.

• Strong problem-solving skills with the capacity to thrive in complex, evolving environments.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Capability to operate with ownership, initiative, and a long-term perspective on platform development.

• Experience in healthcare, regulatory, or other highly regulated environments is highly advantageous.
