This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Stay updated on changing regulations, guidelines, and industry best practices pertaining to dam safety and environmental compliance.
• Ensure that all dam operations and maintenance procedures comply with applicable regulatory requirements and permit stipulations.
• Develop and manage the implementation of dam safety policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with industry standards and regulatory mandates.
• Participate in and designate Associate CDSEs and DSEs to engage in FERC dam safety inspections, Comprehensive Assessments, and Periodic Inspections.
• Oversee the review of all related reports and STIDs.
• Supervise the dam safety surveillance and performance monitoring program.
• Ensure that Dam Safety Surveillance Monitoring Reports (DSSMRs) highlight performance trends, anomalies, and suggested actions.
• Assist Operations staff in comprehending and applying safe operational practices.
• Support the development of dam safety risk rankings.
• Aid the Operations Team with maintenance deficiencies.
• Collaborate with project consultants, the Operations Team, and regulatory representatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline.
• An advanced degree is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license/certification with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of dam safety regulations, guidelines, and industry standards (e.g., FERC, State).
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and external partners.
• Proven leadership abilities with the capacity to inspire and motivate a diverse team of professionals.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Basic understanding of structural, geotechnical, hydrologic, and hydraulic engineering concepts, as well as construction management.
• Familiarity with dam instrumentation, including various types of piezometers, inclinometers, etc.
