This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the strategy and roadmap. Collaborate with the CLO and Legal leadership to define the AI transformation strategy for Legal and its multi-horizon roadmap.
• Evaluate how legal work flows through various stages such as intake, contracting, research, advice, and reporting.
• Design and implement AI-driven workflows across key use cases, incorporating error handling, audit trails, privilege-awareness, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints from the outset.
• Categorize all automation initiatives by risk tier before commencing work. No production build will proceed without an assigned process owner, documented data flows, confirmed access controls, and an assessed privilege impact.
• Ensure audit logging is maintained for all systems that handle privileged work products, attorney communications, or regulated data.
• Provide training for attorneys and legal staff on AI-assisted tools and workflows that are in production.
• Monitor and report quarterly on the effects of automation: reduced turnaround time, increased matters per attorney, and enhanced attorney capacity for higher-judgment tasks.
• Over 8 years of experience in a technical, operations, or engineering-adjacent role with a proven track record in executing automation and AI solutions at scale.
• Practical experience in designing and deploying AI-powered or automated workflows within a production environment that is actively used, rather than just experimental.
• Strong practical experience with API integration and middleware, encompassing REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, authentication, error handling, and observability.
• Proficiency in scripting or automation languages, such as Python or SQL, to develop integrations, automations, and backend services.
• Direct experience in working with LLM APIs, including tool-calling and multi-step agentic workflows.
• Background in designing agentic systems that incorporate human-in-the-loop review and safety measures.
• Proven ability to convert ambiguous operational requirements into dependable, production-grade technical systems.
• Strong systems thinking focused on reliability, security, permissions, and data integrity.
• Comprehensive understanding of data classification, handling of PII, and relevant privacy and data protection obligations.
• Experience in implementing governance and risk frameworks for AI or automation systems, including risk tiering, human review gates, audit logging, and data classification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical solutions for lawyers, senior leadership, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Health insurance
• 401(k) matching
• Flexible work hours
• Paid time off
• Professional development opportunities
• Remote work options
