This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assist with international tax planning and compliance for global subsidiaries and operations.
• Analyze and structure cross-border transactions, intercompany agreements, financing arrangements, and models for intellectual property ownership.
• Manage the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, financings, and strategic partnerships.
• Supervise transfer pricing policies and documentation in coordination with external advisors.
• Provide guidance on Canadian federal and provincial tax issues, encompassing corporate income tax, GST/HST, provincial sales taxes, payroll taxes, withholding taxes, and tax audits.
• Offer advice on U.S. tax ramifications related to the group's operations.
• Deliver insights regarding tax considerations for employee international mobility.
• Collaborate with finance and accounting departments on tax reporting, audits, disputes, and compliance requirements with tax authorities.
• Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes in relevant international jurisdictions, Canada, and the United States.
• Formulate and execute internal tax governance policies and strategies for tax risk management.
• Bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Master's degree in Taxation or completion of the In-Depth Tax Program.
• CPA designation or active membership in good standing with a Canadian or international law society.
• A minimum of 5–10 years of pertinent experience in international tax, preferably within a top-tier law firm, Big Four firm, or the in-house tax department of a multinational corporation.
• Deep knowledge of cross-border tax issues and Canadian corporate taxation.
• U.S. tax expertise is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with international tax planning, transfer pricing, and global tax compliance.
• Prior experience in supporting technology, SaaS, software, fintech, or intellectual property-focused businesses is strongly preferred.
• Experience with mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financing, and corporate reorganizations is highly desirable.
• Strong business insight with the capability to offer practical and results-driven advice.
• Superior writing, analytical, and negotiation abilities.
• Capability to work independently and manage intricate matters across various jurisdictions.
• Bilingualism (English required; proficiency in French is considered an asset).
