Director, Fund Administration – Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee staffing and capacity management, collaborating with the leadership team to anticipate hiring requirements.

• Recruit, onboard, and train a team of individual contributors and managers with varying levels of experience in general fund accounting and internal procedures, guiding them through the proficiency certification process.

• Conduct formal performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to direct reports throughout the year.

• Ensure team satisfaction as measured by our bi-annual employee engagement survey; design and implement initiatives to enhance team satisfaction following each survey.

• Collaborate with the enablement team to improve the training process and learning materials.

• Manage fund administration service delivery, including evaluating customer health, ensuring timely and accurate presentation of deliverables, and ensuring that the team operates within our defined scope of work.

• Oversee the collection of customer invoices and the timely maintenance of contracts.

• Act as the internal escalation point for complex customer situations and intricate accounting inquiries from the team.

• Identify and implement initiatives to boost team efficiency and productivity, including partnering with our Product Team on technology and automation enhancements.

• Maintain robust controls around deliverables and determine how our controls should adapt as the team scales.

• Supervise the year-end audit process.

• Identify out-of-scope client requests and collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Investor Services to define new service offerings.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years of fund accounting experience in private equity, venture capital, real estate, and/or hedge funds. Experience in a fund administration environment is essential.

• At least 5 years of experience in hiring, managing, and developing a team of fund accountants, including managing entry-level fund accountants.

• A strong passion for developing and training entry-level talent and providing coaching to ensure their success in their roles.

• Excellent client and relationship management skills to drive results and fulfill customer needs.

• An operational mindset with a strong emphasis on creating repeatable, scalable processes.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to build relationships at all organizational levels.

• Comfort with ambiguity; self-motivated and entrepreneurial; inclusive in approach.
