Director, Engineering – Public Cloud Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Spearhead and refine the organization-wide Cloud and Infrastructure strategy in partnership with senior executives.

• Clearly communicate the value proposition of Cloud technology while aligning it with Paylocity's overall Hybrid Cloud strategy.

• Establish architecture standards and develop technical roadmaps.

• Promote the adoption of container technologies and cloud-native architecture.

• Provide technical leadership for enterprise virtualization platforms and hybrid infrastructure capabilities.

• Collaborate with Business Development to aid in M&A research, technology due diligence, and platform evaluations.

• Organize and oversee Platform and Infrastructure Engineering teams to optimize efficiency.

• Lead Incident Response and management initiatives for your teams.

• Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.

• Direct the implementation of intricate infrastructure modernization and platform engineering projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 10 years of experience in the SaaS software industry, managing and scaling solutions across public cloud, private cloud, and enterprise infrastructure environments.

• More than 5 years of experience leading multiple engineering teams in a high-growth, enterprise-scale, or highly regulated setting.

• Practical experience with AWS or another leading cloud provider.

• Strong comprehension of hybrid cloud architectures.

• Hands-on experience in deploying, managing, and maintaining operating system platforms within enterprise virtualization technologies such as Windows Server, Linux on VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V, KVM, OpenShift Virtualization, or comparable systems.

• Proven track record in enhancing platform maturity through consolidation, modernization, migration, standardization, and infrastructure optimization efforts.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.

• Familiarity with observability and monitoring platforms, including Datadog.
