This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of engineers, cultivating an environment of innovation, accountability, and ongoing enhancement.
• Act as the primary engineering DRI for Commerce, responsible for the technical vision, strategy, and execution related to catalog, pricing, promotions, payments, and checkout.
• Propel the vision and implementation of the next-generation commerce platform by steering the transition to a robust and durable catalog domain model.
• Establish and execute the engineering roadmap in collaboration with product and design, ensuring a balance between innovation, reliability, scalability, and quality throughout the commerce domain.
• Advocate for clear domain boundaries and enforce contracts, transitioning the organization away from direct cross-domain database access towards integration via APIs and published events.
• Guide the team's shift toward an AI-first engineering culture and specification-driven development.
• Enhance architecture and systems with a focus on long-term growth and performance, promoting evolutionary architecture to ensure platform adaptability as business and product dimensions expand.
• Supervise platform architecture to ensure scalability, reliability, security, and compliance, with particular attention to payments and sensitive financial transactions.
• Foster alignment among squads and cross-functional partners to achieve key initiatives while navigating competing priorities and making trade-offs between speed, technical debt, and innovation.
• Collaborate with data and analytics teams to enhance commerce intelligence—optimizing pricing, promotional strategies, and checkout experiences to boost conversion and retention.
• Mentor and cultivate engineering leaders, emphasizing succession planning, leadership development, and the establishment of a robust technical foundation.
• Take charge of staffing and organizational strategy, including hiring, headcount planning, and structuring teams to meet the evolving demands of the Commerce domain.
• Represent engineering in cross-functional and executive-level discussions, conveying strategy, progress, and trade-offs to senior stakeholders, while influencing critical business decisions.
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles managing multiple teams or organizations within high-growth environments.
• Proven track record of leading cross-functional product engineering teams and overseeing end-to-end consumer experiences.
• Preferred experience in health technology, e-commerce, or subscription-based platforms.
• Strong technical expertise with a solid grasp of modern web and service architectures (Node.js, GraphQL, React, TypeScript, AWS, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in developing scalable, secure, and compliant systems that handle clinical or health-related data.
• Experience in integrating third-party data sources, APIs, and device platforms (labs, wearables, fulfillment).
• Capable of defining and executing technical roadmaps that align with product vision and business objectives.
• Excellent communication skills and executive presence—able to bridge the gap between technical and business stakeholders.
• Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain top-tier engineering talent.
