This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Delivery & Roadmap Execution: Take ownership of the tactical implementation of the engineering roadmap. Collaborate with Product and Design to decompose product requirements into distinct milestones, ensuring the team consistently delivers high-quality software punctually.
• Hands-on Architectural Guidance: Remove obstacles for engineering teams by engaging in technical design reviews. Guarantee that the team develops a stable, scalable platform capable of efficiently ingesting and processing complex clinical trial data sources without incurring technical debt.
• Feature & Tooling Implementation: Lead the daily development of predictive models and analytics tools. Collaborate directly with data and software engineers to ensure these tools effectively identify trial bottlenecks and operate reliably for end-users.
• Sprint & Resource Management: Oversee sprint capacity, budget monitoring, and daily resource distribution. Balance technical debt with feature delivery to enhance engineering velocity and maintain data collection schedules.
• Agile Process Optimization: Facilitate, refine, and enhance the agile ceremonies and development workflows within your department. Recognize and remove operational friction to boost the team's daily shipping rhythm.
• Line Management & Career Mentorship: Supervise Engineering Managers and Tech Leads directly. Conduct regular one-on-ones, provide performance evaluations, draft career development plans, and actively recruit and onboard new engineering personnel.
• Team Health & Collaboration: Foster a high-performing, inclusive team environment. Address interpersonal or cross-team conflicts and ensure clear communication boundaries among engineering squads.
• Cross-Functional Execution: Act as the primary technical liaison for project stakeholders. Convert technical challenges, updates, and risks into understandable operational timelines for non-technical partners.
• BA or BS degree from an accredited institution.
• Over 7 years of software engineering experience, including a minimum of 3 years successfully managing engineering teams.
• Demonstrated experience as a "manager of managers," directly guiding and developing Engineering Managers and Technical Leads.
• Proven history of owning the execution and timely delivery of intricate, data-intensive software products and platforms.
• Strong technical foundation in scalable architecture, cloud infrastructure, and managing complex data pipelines or predictive models.
• Extensive operational knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, sprint capacity planning, and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) processes.
• Ability to actively engage in and steer technical design reviews, ensuring platform stability and minimal technical debt.
• Outstanding communication abilities with a proven track record of translating technical challenges and project risks for non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience creating a high-accountability, collaborative team culture that sustains high morale during periods of rapid growth.
• Previous experience in HealthTech, Biotech, or the Clinical Trials/Life Sciences sector is highly preferred.
