
Director, Engineering – AI-First Healthcare Transformation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +3 more states.
• Lead and expand an engineering organization focused on enterprise integrations, clinical data platforms, and payer/provider interoperability.
• Spearhead the AI-first engineering initiative, promoting the use of AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, and SDLC automation.
• Provide technical guidance and delivery leadership for Epic Tapestry Utilization Management and Compass Rose Care Management integration projects.
• Collaborate with Deloitte, Wipro, Rackspace, and Sagility to ensure delivery accountability.
• Drive the architecture and execution of clinical and healthcare data platforms utilizing Databricks and Snowflake.
• Identify and scale AI use cases that reduce delivery timelines, testing cycles, and operational expenses.
• Work with clinical, product, and compliance leaders to convert healthcare operations into scalable AI-enabled technical solutions.
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Represent the engineering team in executive and board-level discussions regarding technology transformation, delivery risks, and AI strategies.
• Achieve critical milestones in Epic UM and CM while transitioning engineering to default AI-assisted development.
• Report directly to an Associate VP, Technology Solutions.
• Over 10 years of experience in engineering leadership.
• Proven experience in leading AI-first or AI-assisted engineering transformations at both team and organizational levels.
• Familiarity with tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or similar agentic/AI development platforms.
• Strong technical background in enterprise integration and interoperability, including APIs, HL7, FHIR, and EDI/X12.
• Experience with contemporary cloud data platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent.
• A successful track record of guiding engineering teams through large-scale platform transformations and multi-vendor delivery settings.
• High-level communication skills for articulating technical delivery into business and clinical outcomes.
• Must reside near one of the specified U.S. locations.
• Ability to work from a dedicated space without interruptions to protect PHI/HIPAA information.
• Home internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speed.
• Preferred: experience in supporting payer or clinical operations, including UM, CM, HEDIS, STAR Ratings, or Value-Based Care.
• Preferred: background in healthcare technology.
• Preferred: direct experience with Epic Tapestry and/or Compass Rose.
• Preferred: experience in Medicare Advantage, commercial payer, or Value-Based Care.
• Preferred: certification or extensive hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Preferred: experience in establishing or scaling an AI Center of Excellence, AI governance framework, or enterprise AI adoption initiatives.
• Preferred: experience leading transformations driven by regulations, such as CMS interoperability mandates.
