This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Serve as a trusted advisor to the People Team and senior business stakeholders regarding employment law issues, encompassing hiring, termination, employee relations, performance management, compensation, working time, leaves, and investigations.

• Oversee employment litigation and pre-litigation issues, including management of outside counsel and legal strategy.

• Provide employment legal support for cross-border workforce restructurings, which includes redundancy processes and collective consultation.

• Offer guidance on works council and employee representative body obligations in key EMEA jurisdictions, such as Germany, France, and Spain.

• Create and uphold policies, templates, and playbooks that facilitate scalable and consistent legal advice.

• Implement targeted training and enablement initiatives for People Team partners and business stakeholders.

• Collaborate on HubSpot’s international expansion and strategy across EMEA and JAPAC.

• Track legislative and regulatory changes in the region and spearhead the execution of compliance initiatives.

• Lead and cultivate a high-performing, inclusive team of employment lawyers based on trust, accountability, and curiosity.

• Utilize AI and scalable self-service tools to provide swifter, clearer, and more consistent legal support.


⛳️ Requirements

• Admitted to practice law in Ireland or England & Wales.

• Over 10 years of post-qualification experience in employment law, including in-house roles at a multinational corporation.

• Extensive expertise in various EMEA jurisdictions, including at least two of the following: Ireland, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, or Belgium.

• Demonstrated experience in managing cross-border restructurings, collective consultation processes, and obligations related to works councils or employee representative bodies.

• Experience in managing and developing legal professionals or lawyers.

• Excellent communication and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to navigate ambiguity and articulate complex legal concepts effectively.

• Strong relationship-building skills across Legal, People, and executive leadership teams.

• Commitment to HubSpot’s Culture Code and a collaborative working approach.

• Experience with employment law matters in JAPAC jurisdictions such as Australia, Singapore, Japan, or India. (Nice-to-Have)

• Familiarity with working in a SaaS, technology, or AI-driven environment. (Nice-to-Have)

• Background in establishing scalable legal operations, self-service guidance, or AI-enabled legal workflows. (Nice-to-Have)
