📋 Description

• Act as the lead analytics expert across eCommerce, Marketing, Finance, Retail, Merchandising, Inventory Planning, and Operations.

• Take ownership of defining analytics problems - identifying essential business questions and the decisions that insights should guide.

• Transition analysis from simply stating “what happened” to exploring “why it happened,” “how it happened,” and “what our next steps should be.”

• Actively analyze data to uncover risks, opportunities, inefficiencies, and key performance drivers.

• Influence senior leadership with clear implications and actionable recommendations.

• Maintain the integrity, governance, and usability of core commerce, customer, and operational datasets across various platforms (eCommerce, POS, CDP, email, data warehouse).

• Validate insights by applying business context and commercial logic — not solely focusing on technical accuracy.

• Define, document, and consistently evolve company-wide KPI frameworks in collaboration with Finance and functional leaders.

• Identify and address cross-functional metric misalignment to ensure a unified, reliable understanding of performance.

• Set standards for data quality, documentation, and analytical transparency throughout the organization.

• Utilize AI as a fundamental element of advanced analytical tasks, such as hypothesis generation, exploratory analysis, pattern recognition, insight synthesis, and narrative construction.

• Design, implement, and scale repeatable AI-assisted workflows that facilitate ongoing company-level decisions (growth, margin optimization, inventory productivity, forecast alignment).

• Establish validation frameworks to rigorously assess AI-generated outputs against source data, historical performance, customer behavior, and commercial logic.

• Integrate AI-enabled insights into planning, forecasting, and executive performance reviews.

• Advocate for responsible, explainable, and outcome-driven AI utilization within analytics workflows.

• Direct the web and digital analytics strategy using Heap, focusing on funnel performance, customer journey analysis, and conversion optimization.

• Ensure the accuracy of tracking integrity and event schema, including reviewing structured data formats (e.g., JSON, data layers) in collaboration with Product Engineering.

• Convert behavioral data into commercial insights that impact merchandising, marketing, inventory, and operational choices.

• Align behavioral insights with downstream systems and financial realities.

• Integrate demand, margin, inventory, and operational viewpoints into cohesive performance narratives.

• Assist in planning, forecasting, and performance alignment across Finance, Retail, Merchandising, and Operations.

• Question assumptions and reframe business narratives using data-driven insights.

• Serve as a liaison between commercial strategy and operational execution.

• Establish analytical standards that emphasize clarity, trust, commercial relevance, and decision-making impact.

• Minimize reactive ad hoc tasks by creating scalable, decision-oriented reporting and automation frameworks.

• Design the structure, workflows, and expectations for the analytics team.

• Recruit, mentor, and develop junior analytics talent once foundational systems are in place.

• Promote a modern, insight-driven analytics culture throughout the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Analytics, Strategy, or Data Leadership roles.

• Proven track record of leading analytics across various business functions.

• Extensive experience in commerce-driven sectors (retail, eCommerce, CPG, marketplace).

• In-depth understanding of all traffic acquisition channels and their downstream effects on site behavior, using this knowledge to create dependable forecasts that guide strategic decisions.

• Proficient in SQL and possess advanced analytical modeling skills.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and managing AI-enabled analytics workflows.

• Strong ability to rigorously assess AI-generated insights against data, customer behavior, and commercial logic.

• Practical expertise with Heap or other similar event-based web analytics platforms.

• Comfortable working with structured data formats (e.g., JSON), event schemas, and data instrumentation.

• Experience in defining KPI frameworks and addressing cross-functional metric misalignment.

• Proven capability to translate complex data into clear, engaging narratives that inform and influence executive decision-making - guiding leadership from insight to action with confidence and conviction.

• History of proactive insight generation rather than reactive reporting.

• Must be able to work standard Eastern Time business hours.
