This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Lead and guide a team of designers, emphasizing strategic vision, talent development, and excellence in execution.
• Demonstrate exceptional skill in one design area, with strong proficiency in two others and basic capability in two additional domains.
• Employ design methodologies to address execution challenges and uncover new opportunities for value generation.
• Transition to a program model and collaborate across multiple workstreams.
• Foster the development of practices that enhance the value and recognition of design both internally and externally.
• Frame and prioritize research initiatives to support strategic decision-making and identify new opportunities.
• Engage in organization-wide leadership initiatives to shape comprehensive user experiences.
• Utilize storytelling and persuasive communication to align strategy and vision with everyday practicality.
• Facilitate meetings and manage stakeholder communication effectively.
• Cultivate an understanding of the organizational context and line-of-business strategies.
• Convey a compelling vision for the team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to define problems and manage managers.
• Mentor managers in effective people-management practices.
• Recruit, develop, and maintain a high-performing team.
• Encourage shared accountability, operational excellence, and collaboration within the organization.
• Promote continuous improvement, employee engagement, and dedication to clients.

• Directly oversee Design Managers and Principal Designers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Product and Engineering colleagues and organizational stakeholders.
• Present to VPs and EVPs in Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Interaction Design, UI/UX Design, Web Product Design, Web Development, or a similar combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in a relevant field.
• 5–8 years of experience in user experience, interaction design, product innovation, and research within a product development team.
• Proven track record of leading and mentoring design teams.
• Significant management experience is required.
• Capability to recruit and hire top-tier talent.
• Strong leadership capabilities.
• Ability to develop innovative design practices that enhance design value and recognition.
• Excellent skills in strategic communication.
• Comprehensive understanding of organizational context and line of business strategy.
• Experience in talent management, recruiting, hiring, and professional development.
• Experience in annual and ad hoc headcount planning along with securing necessary budgets.
• Preferred: experience in strategic design thinking.
