This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Strategic Vision & Roadmap: Establish a 2–3 year vision for the data platform. Ensure alignment of data engineering projects with overall company objectives to make data a key driver of business growth.
• Organizational Leadership: Develop and expand a multi-tiered engineering organization. Promote a culture of technical excellence, mentorship, and accountability, while ensuring a strong leadership pipeline within your team.
• Data Governance & Compliance: Create and enforce global standards for data quality, security, and privacy (GDPR/CCPA). Take ownership of the framework for data cataloging and lineage to maintain a "single source of truth" across the enterprise.
• Operational Excellence & ROI: Enhance the total cost of ownership (TCO) for our data infrastructure. Oversee vendor relationships (such as Snowflake) and budget management, ensuring the stack scales efficiently as the company grows.
• Executive Stakeholder Management: Act as the main liaison between Engineering and the C-suite. Convert technical debt and infrastructure needs into business value while transforming business requirements into scalable technical architectures.
• Innovation & Architecture: Propel the integration of advanced technologies (AI/ML integration, real-time streaming) to keep Engine at the cutting edge of the industry.
• Experience: Over 10 years in Data Engineering or Software Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in senior leadership positions (managing managers or overseeing large-scale departments).
• Strategic Technical Expertise: Profound architectural understanding of the modern data stack (Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, Airbyte). Proven experience in leading large-scale cloud migrations and designing systems that accommodate both BI and Machine Learning workflows.
• Change Management: Demonstrated ability to guide organizations through significant technical transitions and cultural transformations, particularly from legacy systems to agile, modern architectures.
• Business Acumen: Outstanding capacity to articulate the 'Why' behind technical investments to non-technical stakeholders. A history of leveraging data to address complex business challenges is essential.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Mindset: A strategic thinker who is not hesitant to delve into details when necessary but consistently maintains a focus on scalability, sustainability, and competitive advantage.
