• Take the lead in building and maintaining core dbt models that are utilized for reporting across finance, product, sales, and customer success — this is an individual contributor role that requires hands-on involvement, not delegation.
• Own and enhance FiscalNote's enterprise analytics and reporting framework, serving as the definitive source for business performance data.
• Proactively spot analytical gaps and create reporting solutions before stakeholders recognize the need — provide insights rather than merely responding to requests.
• Offer functional and technical leadership across essential BI platforms, including Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Fivetran, Segment, Heap, Metabase, and Stitch.
• Serve as the direct technical administrator and functional lead for Metabase and Heap.
• Construct and maintain the reporting infrastructure in Metabase, ensuring that dashboards are accurate, efficient, and accessible to stakeholders.
• Establish and uphold a self-service analytics framework that empowers business teams to confidently answer their own queries.
• Prepare and present board- and investor-level data models and reports for senior leadership (CFO, CEO, CRO).
• Assist in M&A due diligence for acquisitions and divestitures; lead the data separation and migration processes related to transactions.
• Oversee audit-related activities for in-scope data systems, including controls, documentation, and compliance.
• Promote data governance and quality standards across all managed platforms.
• Collaborate across functions with sales, marketing, finance, operations, product, and engineering on data and analytics initiatives.
• Mentor and coach junior analysts outside of your direct reporting line.
• Propel AI/ML initiatives and automation efforts to enhance analytical efficiency and scalability.
• Develop training programs to boost self-service analytics adoption and proficiency across the organization.
• Manage system performance, scalability, security, and compliance across all owned platforms.
• Over 8 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field, including at least 3 years in a senior or lead position.
• Proven player/coach mentality — equally effective as an individual contributor and team leader, taking pride in both roles.
• Advanced SQL expertise with substantial, hands-on experience in querying and optimizing in Snowflake; capable of writing complex, production-grade SQL independently.
• Extensive experience in constructing data models from Salesforce data, with a comprehensive understanding of Salesforce's object structure, relationships, and typical data quality challenges.
• Practical experience in building and maintaining dbt models within a production environment.
• Proficient with modern data stack tools, including Snowflake, Databricks, Fivetran, and Segment.
• Experience in developing and managing reports in Metabase or similar BI platforms; familiarity with ThoughtSpot or Sigma is a significant advantage.
• Familiarity with NetSuite, Coupa, Zendesk, and Gong data structures and integrations is preferred.
• A history of delivering executive-level analytics and reports to C-suite stakeholders.
• Proven ability to operate with minimal guidance — you identify needs, prioritize independently, and deliver without prompting.
• Strong data governance mindset with experience in establishing quality standards and documentation practices.
• Experience managing and scaling small, high-impact technical teams.
• Excellent cross-functional leadership skills, capable of influencing without direct authority.
• Experience supporting M&A due diligence or system migrations in a corporate transaction context is preferred.
• Knowledge of SOX or similar audit and compliance frameworks for data systems is preferred.
• Experience in driving AI/ML or intelligent automation initiatives in a business analytics context is preferred.
• Background in SaaS or technology companies with complex, multi-system data environments.
