This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead the creation and implementation of global media relations strategies.
• Enhance the reputation of Amgen along with our key products, pipeline, and functions.
• Act as the official spokesperson for the company.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to develop engaging narratives.
• Provide strategic guidance and oversight to PR agency partners.
• Monitor real-time media trends and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
• Assist with crisis communications and rapid responses to emerging media inquiries.
• Work closely with internal teams, including Investor Relations, Legal, and Commercial.
• Travel as necessary to major conferences, events, and Amgen locations worldwide.
• Doctorate degree and 4 years of experience in communications or public relations OR Master’s degree and 7 years of experience in communications or public relations OR Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of experience in communications or public relations.
• 10-15 years of experience in communications with a significant focus on media relations.
• Proven success in leading media relations initiatives within the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology sector.
• Extensive network of reliable media contacts with a history of achieving high-value coverage across various story types.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strategic problem solver with the confidence to suggest effective courses of action.
• Proactive learner with a keen interest in new media outlets, trends, and storytelling formats.
• Knowledge of global media practices and nuances, particularly with news media outside the US.
