This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +1 more state.
• Develop, direct, and expand a top-tier cloud engineering organization that supports IoT services, including the myQ platform, by nurturing senior engineers, architects, and SRE leaders while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and ongoing improvement.
• Formulate and implement the cloud platform strategy focusing on architecture, scalability, reliability, security, and cost optimization to accommodate millions of connected devices and changing business requirements.
• Offer architectural and operational guidance for AWS-based cloud services, ensuring that platforms are secure, highly available, resilient, and cost-efficient.
• Institute and promote engineering excellence practices, which encompass design reviews, coding standards, testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and automation to guarantee consistent, high-quality delivery.
• Integrate Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles across cloud teams, covering monitoring, alerting, incident response, post-incident reviews, capacity planning, and operational readiness.
• Spearhead performance, load, and stress testing initiatives to confirm platform behavior under real-world conditions, ensuring reliability during peak traffic and device usage.
• Establish and cultivate a Cloud and SRE Community of Practice, facilitating knowledge sharing, skill enhancement, and alignment on cloud-native best practices throughout engineering teams.
• Collaborate closely with product, application, and security teams to facilitate rapid, reliable, and secure delivery of cloud-based IoT products and services.
• Define, monitor, and respond to platform KPIs, including availability, latency, throughput, deployment velocity, cost efficiency, and customer experience metrics.
• Continuously enhance cloud tooling, processes, and AWS services to boost observability, automation, scalability, and operational efficiency while adhering to enterprise architecture standards.
• Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and operational requirements, including ISO, SOC2, and other pertinent frameworks, safeguarding customer data and maintaining business continuity.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and protocols; managers should also ensure compliance within their teams.
• Safeguard Chamberlain Group’s reputation by maintaining confidentiality of information.
• Enhance professional and technical expertise by attending educational workshops, reading industry publications, building personal networks, and engaging in professional organizations.
• Contribute to team objectives by achieving related outcomes and participating in projects as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• An advanced degree may count as up to two (2) years of experience.
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent) are preferred.
• Over 10 years of experience in cloud engineering, SRE, or platform leadership roles with a focus on AWS architecture.
• Demonstrated success in building and scaling exceptional cloud engineering teams and promoting engineering excellence.
• Familiarity with IoT cloud platforms and distributed systems is preferred.
• Experience in leading SRE, performance engineering, and reliability initiatives for production systems.
• Proficient with AWS services, CI/CD pipelines, automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible), and monitoring/observability tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Experience in creating communities of practice, technical standards, and frameworks for knowledge sharing.
