Director, Clinical Strategy – RPh

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +12 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, structure, and develop the long-term evolution of the enterprise formulary and utilization management strategy.

• Responsible for the fiscal management of the department, which includes forecasting, budget development, ongoing variance monitoring, and trending.

• Act as the authority on formulary strategy decisions by integrating clinical evidence, market dynamics, and financial factors.

• Provide clinical leadership in governance forums.

• Formulate and lead clinical and formulary strategies that align with organizational growth, client requirements, and industry trends.

• Monitor emerging drug pipelines and therapeutic trends to proactively influence formulary positioning and strategy.

• Drive clinical strategy contributions for new business initiatives and client retention efforts.

• Encourage cross-functional and inter-professional work teams to achieve results that support the organization’s strategic plan.

• Ensure that formulary and clinical strategies comply with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and internal policies.

• Design and oversee clinical criteria for prior authorizations, step therapy, and quantity limits to ensure the appropriate use of medications.

• Maintain responsibility for clinical integrity and the appropriateness of decision-making.

• Provide leadership, training, and supervision to team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or a PharmD degree is required.

• Current, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the state of residence, or the capability to obtain reciprocity within 4 months.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in PBM, managed care, or clinical pharmacy leadership is required.

• At least 5 years of experience leading multiple teams or functions with both clinical and business impacts is necessary.
