Part-Time Medical Director – Inpatient Psychiatry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the clinical leader for the inpatient psychiatric service line in partnership with hospitals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care.

• Provide direction and supervision concerning clinical decision-making, risk management, and patient safety protocols.

• Assist in the standardization of care practices, enhance documentation quality, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

• Collaborate with hospital and administrative leaders on program development, performance enhancement, and operational alignment.

• Engage in peer reviews, case reviews, and initiatives for quality improvement.

• Perform psychiatric evaluations, manage admissions, and conduct follow-up visits.

• Offer daily rounding and medication management for patients in inpatient psychiatric settings.

• Create and oversee personalized treatment plans for patients.

• Direct planning for patient disposition, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.

• Complete necessary documentation, such as psychiatric evaluations and discharge summaries.

• Lead or engage in treatment team meetings and case conferences.

• Work closely with nursing staff, social workers, case management, and hospital leadership.

• Provide consultation and support to clinical staff on complex or high-risk cases.

• Engage with families and external providers to ensure a seamless continuity of care.

⛳️ Requirements

• Board-certified or board-eligible Psychiatrist.

• Required prior experience as a Medical Director in a hospital setting; experience as an Inpatient Psychiatry Medical Director is preferred.

• Must possess unrestricted, independent licensure.

• Established and current CAQH and FCVS profiles.

• Experience in providing psychiatric care across all age groups.

• Capable of treating patients in acute crises and delivering stabilizing treatment in 24/7 environments.

• Proficient in communicating with patients from diverse backgrounds and providing culturally competent care.

• Experience with multiple EMRs simultaneously.

• Advanced technical skills, including proficiency with hardware (laptops, cameras, monitors), Windows systems, Microsoft software, and EMR software, honed through several years of telehealth experience.
