This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Lead the strategy, framework, and execution of our Compliance program to ensure that all relevant Brazilian regulatory requirements and our company’s risk criteria are met in a comprehensive manner.
• Collaborate closely with the broader Compliance, ERM, Legal, Product, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to gain insights into the overall business landscape and serve as a primary contact for the daily implementation and execution of Compliance policies pertaining to Brazil.
• Assist with local authorization and licensing procedures involving Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) by developing necessary materials, addressing inquiries, and coordinating responses to regulatory matters.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting obligations, which includes reporting suspicious activities to COAF and being responsive to any regulatory engagements.
• Collaborate with other leaders to design and implement the Compliance framework and systems specific to our operations in Brazil.
• Engage with local regulators and other external stakeholders to explain our Compliance and Risk Management program.
• Monitor developments in AML/CFT, sanctions, and other regulatory changes in Brazil, including evolving requirements under the Brazilian VASP regime as directed by BCB, ensuring processes are established to keep the business informed.
• A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in financial services, fintech, regulatory compliance, law enforcement, or government agency roles, with extensive expertise in financial crimes.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience as specified above.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory obligations in Brazil, encompassing AML/CFT, sanctions, MLRO responsibilities, and requirements under the Brazilian VASP framework.
• Strong familiarity with Brazilian regulatory authorities relevant to VASPs, including BCB.
• Experience in direct engagement with Brazilian regulators and management of regulatory relationships.
• Proven experience working collaboratively with cross-functional team leaders (e.g., Legal, Engineering, Product, Data, Operations) to enhance compliance processes and systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work with global teams in establishing and executing suitable compliance programs.
• Knowledge of compliance requirements (red flags, typologies), processes, and systems utilized in online, mobile, and blockchain environments.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Familiarity with Slack, Apple MacOS, and GSuite.
