This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Drive the organization-wide strategy for data and AI governance, along with the roadmap and accountability frameworks, ensuring alignment with clinical, financial, and operational priorities while upholding compliance, ethical standards, and high-quality usage of data and artificial intelligence.
• Assess, analyze, and prioritize AI use cases across various ecosystems, including Epic (clinical and revenue cycle), Workday (HR and finance), Microsoft 365/Azure (productivity and data), and other AI solutions.
• Spearhead the evaluation and implementation of native AI functionalities within core platforms, such as Epic’s AI/ambient documentation tools, Workday’s AI-driven HR/talent capabilities, and Microsoft Copilot along with Azure AI services.
• Direct enterprise change management and data literacy initiatives to promote the adoption of governance practices and responsible AI usage throughout the organization.
• Develop AI governance structures, which include a responsible AI framework, model risk review processes, data privacy and HIPAA compliance measures, as well as vendor due diligence protocols.
• Collaborate with the leadership team on essential initiatives aimed at steering business strategies across all organizational functions, identifying AI-enabled solutions that demonstrate clear ROI.
• Foster relationships with Epic, Workday, Microsoft, and third-party AI vendors, which includes engaging in user groups, roadmap assessments, and contract/licensing negotiations.
• Supervise pilot programs and change management efforts for AI tools, ensuring the adoption, training, and measurable outcomes for clinicians and staff.
• Build, mentor, and lead a team of AI/analytics professionals while coordinating cross-functional work with application analysts, data/BI, security, and compliance teams.
• Stay updated on the regulatory and competitive landscape for healthcare AI, ensuring that OrthoVirginia’s strategies remain compliant and well-informed.
• Maintain a broader innovation pipeline by scouting emerging technologies and process improvements beyond AI that can enhance clinical or operational performance, recommending actions for pursuit, piloting, or shelving.
• Provide updates on AI and innovation program progress, risks, and results to executive leadership as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Over 7 years of progressive experience in healthcare IT, digital strategy, or data/analytics, with at least 3 years in leadership roles related to AI, automation, or advanced analytics initiatives.
• Practical experience working within or in conjunction with Epic, Workday, or Microsoft 365/Azure environments.
• Familiarity with Epic modules such as the Cognitive Computing Platform, Abridge ambient documentation, or Epic AI tools.
• Proven experience in leading cross-functional technology initiatives and managing vendor relationships in a healthcare context.
• Solid understanding of HIPAA regulations, data privacy, and AI governance/risk issues within the healthcare industry.
• Prior experience in people management, with a demonstrated ability to build and develop a team.
• Excellent executive communication skills, capable of conveying technical AI concepts to clinical and business leaders effectively.
