Director, Agentic AI – Clinical Trial Platforms

📋 Description

• Lead the Agentic AI team, comprising AI engineers, data scientists, software engineers, and platform engineers, to create scalable AI solutions for internal operations and clinical trial applications.

• Drive the strategy, technical architecture, and development of Clario’s AI Agent platform, facilitating reusable agents, intelligent automation, human-in-the-loop workflows, and orchestration across products, services, data, and enterprise systems.

• Oversee the ongoing development of multimodal AI services that incorporate text, clinical outcomes data, audio, sensor, and various trial-related data types.

• Collaborate with product, clinical, regulatory, technology, and commercial stakeholders to pinpoint high-impact AI opportunities and convert them into production-ready capabilities.

• Convert agentic AI capabilities into quantifiable operational, product, and customer outcomes, such as adoption, workflow efficiency, quality enhancement, and commercial differentiation.

• Lead the design and implementation of cloud-based AI services and platforms utilizing AWS SageMaker and associated AWS AI/ML services.

• Ensure that AI solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, observable, and aligned with the quality and regulatory expectations of clinical trials.

• Establish best practices for AI development, model and agent evaluation, agent orchestration, MLOps/LLMOps, data governance, monitoring, validation, and responsible AI.

• Act as a senior technical and strategic partner to the Chief AI Officer regarding AI vision, clinical-trial transformation, operating model, investments, and technology strategy.

• Mentor and develop team members while promoting technical excellence, collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in leading AI, machine learning, data science, or advanced analytics teams in a technology-oriented environment.

• Hands-on expertise in designing, building, and deploying cloud-based AI/ML platforms and services, ideally on AWS.

• Practical experience with AWS SageMaker and associated cloud-native services for AI/ML model development, deployment, monitoring, and automation.

• Practical experience in designing and deploying generative AI and agentic systems, including large language models, tool use, retrieval, agent orchestration, evaluation, observability, and production-grade AI architectures.

• Experience in developing multimodal AI solutions that utilize both structured and unstructured data.

• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects from concept to production deployment.

• Capability to translate clinical, customer, product, and business requirements into AI platform strategy, technical roadmaps, and investment priorities.

• Strong background in software engineering and platform architecture, including APIs, scalable services, security, DevOps/MLOps, and enterprise-grade cloud systems.

• Exceptional communication skills with executive stakeholders, technical teams, customers, and cross-functional partners.

• Ability to balance innovation with practical delivery, risk management, compliance, and business impact.

• Preferred: Experience in life sciences, clinical trials, regulated healthcare technology, or another highly regulated and data-intensive field.

• Preferred: Familiarity with regulatory considerations, validation practices, privacy, and security requirements.

• Preferred: Significant experience in delivering AI-enabled SaaS products or enterprise platforms at scale.

• An advanced degree in computer science, engineering, data science, AI/ML, biomedical informatics, or a related discipline is preferred.
