Direct Tax & R&D Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough analysis and precise preparation and/or review of necessary federal (including international forms), state, and local corporate income tax returns.

• Organize client documentation and oversee client communications to ensure engagements remain on schedule.

• Keep abreast of tax legislation and regulations impacting clients and adjust strategies as needed.

• Monitor client operations and work alongside managers to formulate timely and relevant tax guidance.

• Compile and maintain accounting and tax documentation to support submitted returns and financial statement accounting.

• Prepare and execute R&D Tax Credit Studies from start to finish — incorporating Sec 174 calculations, work papers, technical interview documentation, and R&D Study Reports — for various software and biotech clients.

• Enhance your knowledge of pertinent technical industries (notably Software and Biotech) to effectively identify and assist with qualified research activities.

• Examine financial statements to uncover R&D opportunities for clients.

• Collaborate with managers to devise R&D credit strategies and stay updated with changing guidance and legislation.

• Oversee multiple R&D projects and regularly and efficiently update the team project tracker.

• Acquire proficiency in our suite of software tools across both practice areas.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, or a related field AND 2–4 years of experience in income tax and R&D tax credits work, with a strong desire to deepen expertise in both areas.

• Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of tax principles.

• Proficient in Excel with the capability to perform data analysis and calculations.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, adjusting as necessary.

• Experience in process enhancement and cross-functional teamwork.

• Strong collaboration and business partnering abilities, along with excellent interpersonal skills.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including prompt response times within our 100% remote team.

• Interest in supporting clients in software, biotechnology, technical, and other rapidly growing sectors.

• Self-driven to enhance your knowledge through continued education, reading, research, and inquiry.
