DevOps Software Configuration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage CI/CD pipelines that retrieve source code from GitHub, compile Java applications, and package deployment artifacts.

• Automate deployment processes across various environments, including Development, QA, UAT, Pilot, and Production.

• Integrate automated smoke tests and validation checks into the deployment pipelines.

• Establish strategies for artifact versioning, tagging, and promotion to facilitate controlled releases and rollbacks.

• Provide support for application deployments across AWS and Azure virtual machine environments.

• Assist in transitioning applications towards containerized deployments utilizing Kubernetes.

• Ensure consistency of environments across platforms and deployment stages.

• Take ownership of and enforce source control branching, merging, tagging, and release conventions.

• Maintain comprehensive build, deployment, and release documentation, which includes runbooks and standard operating procedures.

• Coordinate software releases in collaboration with Development, QA, and Application Support teams.

• Help troubleshoot issues related to builds, deployments, and environments.

• Actively participate in incident response pertaining to deployment or configuration failures.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related practical experience.

• 3 to 6 years of experience in DevOps, build and release engineering, or software configuration roles.

• Proven experience in constructing CI/CD pipelines for Java-based applications.

• Practical experience with GitHub-based source control workflows.

• Experience in deploying applications on Linux-based virtual machines in AWS and/or Azure.

• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell.

• Strong grasp of CI/CD concepts and effective DevOps workflows.

• Excellent troubleshooting abilities across application, build, and environment layers.

• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
