This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead, manage, and mentor the DevOps team, cultivating a culture of ownership and continuous improvement through regular one-on-one meetings, structured career development, and daily coaching.
• Effectively delegate and prioritize tasks within the team, balancing immediate operational needs with long-term strategic goals.
• Work closely with the Senior DevOps Engineer to utilize deep platform knowledge, document institutional expertise, and maintain continuity across the team.
• Take ownership of the DevOps roadmap, proactively identifying infrastructure enhancements, scalability investments, and process improvements in anticipation of platform growth.
• Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to translate business and technical requirements into actionable infrastructure plans and milestones.
• Assess emerging tools and practices, recommending adoptions that position the team ahead of scaling challenges.
• Design, build, and maintain infrastructure and deployment pipelines, ensuring reliability and performance as the platform expands.
• Develop and improve tools for automated deployment, monitoring, and operations to minimize toil and enhance system observability.
• Identify and resolve infrastructure issues promptly, optimizing systems to meet increasing platform demands.
• Implement and maintain robust monitoring and alerting systems, leading incident response and resolution efforts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that enhance engineering efficiency.
• Oversee IT administration including user provisioning and deprovisioning, laptop logistics, and asset inventory management.
• Proven experience in managing or leading a DevOps or infrastructure team.
• Strong strategic thinking skills with the capability to develop and communicate a forward-looking infrastructure roadmap.
• High proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.).
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, security, and protocols.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools and pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Expertise in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proficient in database administration and optimization.
• Strong understanding of version control systems, particularly Git.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the capacity to manage competing priorities across strategy and execution.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with AI-assisted developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to enhance team productivity and code quality throughout the engineering workflow.
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
• Experience in performance tuning and optimization of web applications.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture.
• Experience with payment processing and gateways.
• Proven ability to balance hands-on technical tasks with leadership and planning responsibilities.
