DevOps Engineer, Software Configuration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage CI/CD pipelines that retrieve source code from GitHub, compile Java applications, and package deployment artifacts.

• Automate the deployment process across various environments, including Development, QA, UAT, Pilot, and Production.

• Incorporate automated smoke tests and validation checks within the deployment pipelines.

• Establish strategies for artifact versioning, tagging, and promotion to facilitate controlled releases and rollbacks.

• Support application deployments in AWS and Azure virtual machine environments.

• Aid in transitioning applications to containerized deployments utilizing Kubernetes.

• Ensure consistency across environments and deployment stages.

• Lead and enforce conventions for source control branching, merging, tagging, and releases.

• Keep build, deployment, and release documentation up to date, including runbooks and standard operating procedures.

• Collaborate with Development, QA, and Application Support teams to coordinate software releases.

• Assist in troubleshooting issues related to builds, deployments, and environments.

• Participate in incident response activities related to deployment or configuration failures.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.

• 3 to 6 years of experience in DevOps, build and release engineering, or software configuration roles.

• Proven experience in building CI/CD pipelines for Java-based applications.

• Practical experience with GitHub-based source control workflows.

• Experience in deploying applications to Linux-based virtual machines in AWS and/or Azure.

• Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell.

• Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and effective DevOps workflows.

• Excellent troubleshooting skills across application, build, and environment layers.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
