This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Design and implement secure, scalable architectures on AWS for applications that require high availability.
• Develop resilient data and service backends utilizing RDS, S3, Elasticsearch, SQS, and SNS.
• Execute secrets management, configuration management, and environment isolation across development, testing, staging, and production.
• Assess database scaling strategies while optimizing queries, indexing, replication, and connection pooling.
• Set up load balancers, DNS, VPCs, and manage SSL/TLS certificates.
• Implement GitOps and continuous delivery processes including policy gates, approvals, automated rollbacks, and progressive delivery methodologies.
• Codify infrastructure using AWS CDK and CloudFormation, incorporating reusable versioned modules and drift detection mechanisms.
• Create and uphold GitLab CI pipelines throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Develop platform automation and internal tools using PowerShell, Python, Microsoft Graph, and Azure CLI.
• Support Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices including SLOs, error budgets, and deployment strategies such as blue/green, canary, or zero-downtime.
• Optimize AWS costs through autoscaling, reservations, spot usage, caching, CDN, data lifecycle policies, and enhancing build-farm efficiency.
• Integrate CloudWatch and AWS X-Ray for observability, performance tracing, metrics, and alerting.
• Enforce IAM policies, role separation, least privilege access, and secure architectures compliant with SOC 2, HIPAA, and ISO 27001 standards.
• Maintain architecture diagrams, pipeline documentation, runbooks, decision records, how-to guides, and internal platform catalog modules.
• Mentor junior team members and collaborate with Security, Application Development, Reliability, Connectivity, SRE, and full-stack engineering teams.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on AWS experience, including ECS, RDS, ALB, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, and Amplify.
• Proficiency in infrastructure as code using AWS CDK or CloudFormation.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
• Automation proficiency in Windows Server and PowerShell.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Bash.
• Strong foundational understanding of networking, including routing, DNS, load balancing, private endpoints, VPC networking, and SSL management.
• Demonstrated experience in scaling containerized services and troubleshooting autoscaling behavior.
• In-depth performance tuning knowledge for MySQL and PostgreSQL, focusing on query optimization, indexing, and replication configuration.
• Proven ability to document infrastructure for team knowledge sharing.
• Experience in designing secure and compliant architectures; familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, and ISO 27001 is advantageous.
• Understanding of event-driven and messaging patterns, including Service Bus, Event Grid, and Storage Queues.
• Required software experience includes AWS CDK, CloudFormation, AWS Management Console, GitLab CI, IIS, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with TypeScript is a plus.
