This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.
• Take ownership and enhance our DevOps and platform engineering capabilities, encompassing build and deployment pipelines, monitoring, infrastructure as code, and cost management.
• Develop and sustain CI/CD pipelines that prioritize security, scalability, and are designed to facilitate rapid product iterations while maintaining stability.
• Enhance observability through Datadog, GCP, and tailored dashboards, with a focus on achieving FinOps-oriented observability results.
• Establish and uphold FinOps governance, including showback and chargeback models, to promote cost accountability among engineering teams.
• Boost developer productivity by creating internal tools, reusable components, and streamlining infrastructure for other engineering teams.
• Assist teams in defining and measuring SLOs, setting the benchmark for evaluating system health and reliability.
• Act as a FinOps thought leader, partnering with Product and Engineering to identify the most cost-effective architectural patterns for new services and features.
• Play a pivotal role in molding our engineering culture, promoting DevOps best practices, and influencing our long-term DevOps strategy.
• Collaborate across product engineering, security, finance, and other teams to align technical expenditures with business unit economics and financial objectives.
• Over 6 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or software engineering roles, preferably within high-growth startup settings.
• Expertise in Python or Go, demonstrating solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Proven track record of owning production infrastructure and platform tooling, with exceptional debugging skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems and identify unexpected financial surges.
• Experience in designing and implementing highly secure and resilient infrastructure, particularly in environments with strict regulatory standards, such as those utilized by government bodies and major financial institutions.
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes and tools such as ArgoCD, Helm, and Terraform.
• Familiarity with GCP (preferred) or other significant cloud providers, with a strong emphasis on cloud cost management, maximizing reserved instances/savings plans, and applying cost anomaly detection.
• Practical experience with dedicated FinOps tools (e.g., Kubecost, AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Cloud Billing, DoIT Cloud Intelligence) or developing custom tools for cost allocation and reporting.
• Strong background in building CI/CD pipelines and internal developer tools from scratch.
• Hands-on experience with observability tools like Prometheus or Datadog, and involvement in an on-call rotation.
