This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the technical vision for Emergent's DevOps practice, encompassing IaC standards, pipeline methodologies, code review protocols, and reference architectures utilized in client projects.
• Create and update internal documentation, templates, and modules that the team depends on daily. This is a fundamental aspect of the role, not a secondary task.

• Oversee the most intricate DevOps projects from start to finish, focusing on scenarios where scalability, regulatory needs, or legacy limitations require robust technical judgment. This includes managing backlog tasks and feature assignments to the project team and influencing the technical direction across various practice areas.
• Represent the DevOps practice during pre-sales activities. Collaborate with sales and account teams to define project scope, lead technical discovery sessions, contribute to proposals, and instill client confidence in Emergent's methodologies.
• Continuously enhance Emergent's DevOps practice by assessing new tools, methodologies, and approaches, and integrating the most suitable ones into the team's standard practices.
• Analyze and enhance existing client systems that may be partially implemented or poorly managed, striking a balance between practical delivery and long-term maintainability.
• Maintain accurate records of time and work completed to assist with client billing, project planning, and overall project health, as part of a professional services delivery framework.
• Exhibit strong time management abilities to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and provide technical support and guidance to fellow DevOps-focused team members.
• Share your expertise during regular talk shop and lunch & learn sessions to foster a more robust team.
• A minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, showcasing extensive expertise in Microsoft Azure across compute, storage, and governance.
• Profound networking knowledge in Azure, including the design of topologies from scratch (segmentation strategies, hub-and-spoke or virtual WAN, cross-region connectivity, on-premises integration), as well as proficiency with virtual networks, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, and private endpoints.
• Capable of diagnosing connectivity challenges in hybrid environments.
• Strong foundation in identity and security principles, including Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities, and secure access methodologies.
• Advanced skills in authoring production-level Infrastructure as Code, including modular Terraform or Bicep, with strong beliefs in idempotency, reuse, environment parity, and safe change management.
• Proven experience in designing and operating CI/CD pipelines at scale using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
• Experience in creating disaster recovery and high availability strategies in Azure, including defining RTO and RPO targets, multi-region patterns, and conducting failover testing.
• Knowledgeable in designing for cost efficiency at scale, including tagging strategies, reservation and savings plan planning, and ongoing FinOps practices.
• Demonstrated experience in writing and maintaining technical standards and internal documentation that other engineers actively utilize. Be ready to provide examples.
• Experience in mentoring engineers, particularly those transitioning into cloud or DevOps from related fields.
• Comfortable leading technical discussions with clients, including pre-sales discovery and architectural reviews.
