• Execute all facets of the complete design for electrical and instrumentation projects utilizing both theoretical expertise and practical design techniques.
• Support the design of larger and more intricate electrical and instrumentation projects under general supervision.
• Ensure adherence to relevant Southern Company standards, industry codes, and project specifications.
• Create, evaluate, and revise detailed electrical design drawings.
• Develop and/or validate as-built documentation for various projects.
• Collaborate with external entities regarding design models, drawings, and overall design.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders, including plant engineering, construction teams, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
• An associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is mandatory.
• At least 4 years of pertinent industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design.
• Familiarity with the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC) is essential.
• Capability to perform calculations for lighting levels.
• Proficient in sizing wire, conduit, and overcurrent protection for lighting and power applications.
• Ability to carry out voltage drop calculations.
• Skill in routing conduit and cable trays.
• Competence in calculating tray and conduit fill.
• Ability to assess motor control center loading.
• Knowledge of specifications and installation details for construction bulk materials and equipment.
• Skill in producing accurate electrical installation documents based on vendor equipment drawings.
• Ability to determine load center unit substation loading.
• Understanding of workflow/information flow between various disciplines.
• Awareness of schedule constraints and information requirements necessary for generating all electrical deliverables.
• Ability to estimate the completion timelines for assigned tasks.
• Knowledge of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experienced in using 2D AutoCAD and Microstation.
• Familiarity with 3D AutoCAD is advantageous.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
