This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Accountable for Civil/Structural Engineering tasks as assigned, with minimal supervision, in support of Electrical Substation design, primarily concentrating on structural engineering and design.
• Execute designs for structural steel, anchorage, and concrete foundations.
• Create detailed drawings for structural steel and reinforced concrete.
• Develop structural analysis models and design foundations for steel structures and equipment support.
• Utilize internally developed design tools to aid in analysis, post-processing, and the creation of construction drawings.
• Assist in the development of calculation reports and packages, review steel and rebar fabrication shop drawings, and evaluate construction submittals.
• Participate in the analysis, design, and detailing of structural steel and concrete for transmission and distribution electrical substations, accommodating voltage classes up to and including 345kV.
• Review and produce civil/structural design drawings, which include Structural and Foundation Plans and Details, as well as Oil Containment Plans and Details.
• Assess civil design drawings, such as Site Plans and Grading and Drainage Plans, ensuring coordination with structural and other substation physical elements.
• Operate with a self-directed level of responsibility while working under the guidance and supervision of a registered Senior Substation Civil/Structural Engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or structural engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent qualification.
• Professional Engineer licensure or FE/EIT certification, with an intention to obtain PE license within 1.5 years.
• 3-6+ years of experience in civil/structural substation design engineering, preferably in an engineering consulting firm.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Mathcad, RISA3D or other FEA software, MFAD, L-Pile, and AutoCAD is preferred.
• Knowledge of standard building codes such as IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, and AWS.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 15% when necessary within the continental US.
