Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take full responsibility for product features: From grasping the issue at hand, to designing the user experience, coding the front-end, and delivering it to users.

• Code prototyping: Transform static mockups into functional prototypes to quickly validate concepts and mitigate risks through genuine customer feedback.

• Promote design-driven development: Collaborate in a fixed-time, variable-scope setting, prioritizing results over outputs while closely partnering with backend and core engineering to create significant impact.

• Rapid shipping without compromising quality: Achieve a balance between speed and craftsmanship, providing polished, production-ready experiences within tight deadlines, with meticulous attention to detail in both design and code.

• Enhance UI architecture: Advance our design system and component libraries to ensure design and code maintain perfect alignment across mobile and web platforms.

• Amplify team effectiveness: Elevate the standards for the entire design team by assisting designers in coding and integrating AI tools into their workflows—enhancing speed, autonomy, and technical proficiency throughout the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated hybrid experience: You have successfully delivered actual products where you were responsible for both design and code implementation (e.g., React Native, Node, Typescript, Vue.js, etc.).

• A portfolio of tangible creations: You can reference live products—not merely mockups—where you designed and developed the user experience. You likely utilize AI tools for prototyping, iterating, and expediting your workflow.

• Keen product sensibility: You possess a discerning eye for quality and understand what contributes to an experience feeling intuitive, swift, and enjoyable.

• Profound technical knowledge: You comprehend the limitations and opportunities of contemporary front-end development and design accordingly—creating solutions that are efficient, scalable, and maintainable.

• A proactive builder mentality: You don't wait for specifications. You identify problems, make decisions, and drive tasks to completion with minimal oversight.

• Outstanding communication abilities: You can clearly convey design decisions and technical trade-offs to both design and engineering teams.
