This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Oversee the complete peer review process for academic journal submissions.
• Evaluate submitted manuscripts for scientific rigor, relevance, and alignment with journal objectives.
• Detect and report any concerns related to publication ethics or integrity.
• Make editorial decisions regarding acceptance, rejection, revision, or transfer of manuscripts.
• Select, invite, and oversee peer reviewers.
• Assess reviewer feedback and determine the subsequent steps for manuscripts.
• Evaluate revised submissions along with author rebuttals.
• Suggest alternative journals for manuscript transfers when applicable.
• Commission content, including review articles and special issues.
• Foster relationships with authors and researchers while tracking invited submissions.
• Collaborate with Editors-in-Chief on journal objectives, scope, and editorial strategies.
• Recommend and assist in appointing editorial board members.
• Contribute to achieving commissioning targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Attend conferences, webinars, and scientific events to represent the journal and organization.
• Develop professional networks to enhance the visibility of the journal and increase submissions.
• Analyze peer review metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Lead or contribute to projects aimed at optimizing editorial workflows.
• Work with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements.
• Engage in editorial clusters and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Train and mentor peers and junior editors.
• Manage editorial duties across various journals and Editors-in-Chief.
• Independently handle complex or high-impact editorial cases.
• Identify new product opportunities, content areas, or avenues for journal development.
• Share valuable insights with pertinent internal stakeholders.
• PhD in AI/intelligent systems.
• Demonstrated experience in academic publishing, editorial roles, or manuscript management.
• Deep understanding of peer review processes and publication ethics.
• Expertise in a specific research domain.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple manuscripts and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Proficient stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience in commissioning content and engaging with author communities.
• Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze performance metrics.
• Capacity to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Keen attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality.
