DBA Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Enhancing the performance of the database infrastructure, including queries, indexes, locks, and resource usage such as CPU, RAM, and disk.

• Addressing performance challenges promptly to support essential business services.

• Evaluating and optimizing stored procedures, functions, and triggers.

• Identifying and rectifying performance issues.

• Performing routine database administration responsibilities.

• Improving administration processes across multiple SQL Server instances.

• Establishing and managing replications, including transactional, snapshot, and merge types.

• Collaborating with backend, DevOps, and infrastructure teams on joint initiatives.

• Applying patches to production systems.

• Aiding other departments with data retrieval tasks.

• Contributing to the design of data storage architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth understanding of Microsoft SQL Server architecture and its internal workings.

• Expert-level proficiency with SQL Server versions 2016–2019.

• Practical experience in optimizing high-load systems and addressing performance bottlenecks.

• Strong command of T-SQL, with capabilities in writing and enhancing stored procedures, UDFs, and triggers.

• Familiarity with indexes, locking mechanisms, isolation levels, transaction management, wait analysis, deadlock analysis, and tempdb optimization.

• Proficiency in using built-in diagnostic tools, such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and Query Store.

• Experience in SQL Server setup, migrations, and upgrades.

• Knowledge of HA/DR solutions, including Always On Availability Groups and Log Shipping.

• Expertise in troubleshooting production incidents.

• Basic familiarity with MongoDB and ClickHouse is a plus.

• Experience in creating and maintaining SQL Server replications (Transactional, Snapshot, Merge) is advantageous.

• Knowledge of PowerShell, including the dbatools module, is a plus.

• Experience with monitoring systems such as Zabbix and Grafana is beneficial.

• Familiarity with partitioning, compression, and archiving strategies is a plus.

• Ability to quickly comprehend and work with existing code is desirable.
