This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Offer technical direction and mentorship to the database development team.
• Design, develop, and enhance database systems to align with business needs.
• Suggest improvements to database architecture and design to boost scalability, availability, and security.
• Collaborate with the DevOps team to automate database deployments and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
• Create and maintain thorough documentation for database systems and processes.
• Keep abreast of the latest database technologies and best practices, implementing enhancements as necessary.
• Monitor and enhance database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with software developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to integrate database solutions with applications.
• Conduct code reviews to support database development.
• Execute database deployments.
• Optimize database queries and stored procedures for peak efficiency and performance.
• Develop intricate SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views to support business logic and application functionality.
• Conduct data modeling, which includes designing schemas, tables, indexes, and relationships for both transactional and analytical use cases.
• Provide support for troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues reported by application teams.
• Work closely with application developers to integrate database systems with applications and ensure efficient data flow.
• Configure and manage Azure Databases, including automated backups, replication, and high-availability options.
• Implement and manage database security, including encryption, access controls, and auditing to comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure disaster recovery strategies are established, including point-in-time restore and geo-replication for Azure SQL Database.
• Offer off-hours support when necessary.
• Provide on-site disaster recovery assistance when needed.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
• Additional education, certifications, or other distinctions are advantageous.
• Proficient in various desktop tools, including MS Office Programs (i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, SharePoint, etc.).
• Azure AZ900, DP900, DP-300 training is required.
• Azure certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert are strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
• At least 3 years of experience with installing, configuring, and supporting Oracle and/or SQL Server database environments.
• Experience with Azure SQL database environments.
• Familiarity with the Azure ecosystem and database services like Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Key Vault, etc.
• Must be well-versed in database procedures including: installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and SQL statement tuning.
• Experience with ETL tools to document and transfer data as required.
• Proficient with the Linux operating system and shell scripting.
• Experienced with Windows Server operating systems.
• Familiarity with scripting languages and automation tools is a plus (AI tools, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Azure DevOps, PowerShell, and ARM templates).
