Database Developer – Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance relational schemas, which include tables, indexes, constraints, and relationships.

• Create and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and other logic driven by databases.

• Analyze execution plans to identify enhancements for performance and efficiency.

• Engage hands-on with OLAP cube-based data models, focusing on the design and modification of dimensions, hierarchies, and measures.

• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot queries related to OLAP.

• Assist feature teams in the development and maintenance of the database.

• Identify and resolve issues related to locking, contention, inefficient joins, and indexing deficiencies.

• Suggest and implement improvements in indexing, partitioning, or structural design.

• Take part in load testing and discussions regarding capacity related to the data layer.

• Contribute to design and peer review processes.

• Mentor colleagues on SQL best practices, schema design, and performance optimization techniques.

• Collaborate within a small agile team to deliver high-quality features and continuously enhance engineering methods.

• Document data structures, conventions, and patterns for the wider engineering community.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4–5 years of experience in database engineering, SQL development, or backend engineering with significant data responsibilities.

• Extensive knowledge in MS-SQL: o Complex joins o Execution plan analysis o Query optimization o Indexing strategy.

• Experience in building ETL/ELT components.

• Strong grasp of relational data modeling and schema design principles.

• Proven experience in enhancing database performance through structural and query-level optimizations.

• Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
