Database Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design and Development

• Transfer data and tables from Unix operating systems while executing extract, transformation, and load (ETL) operations into Sybase IQ.

• Refactor current jobs and create new solutions as required.

• Assist users by providing documentation on data migration into Sybase IQ and supplying metadata for the metadata repository.

• Create an object-oriented, UNIX-based framework and engine of scripts and stored procedures to execute and monitor multiple ETL and statistics processes.

• Troubleshoot shell and SQL errors; configure and manage SSH clients across servers.

• Engage in Scrum and client meetings, produce documentation, and update Kanban board cards.

• Optimization and Performance

• Enhance ETL processes for efficient and timely data processing.

• Monitor ETL jobs and address performance bottlenecks.

• Data Quality

• Guarantee data accuracy and integrity through validation, cleansing, and auditing.

• Collaborate with the Data Quality team to resolve data inconsistencies and issues.

• Collaboration and Documentation

• Partner with Data Architects to design data models and schemas that fulfill business requirements.

• Work alongside Business Analysts to comprehend transformation requirements.

• Document ETL processes, workflows, and data dictionaries for clarity and future reference.

• Troubleshooting and Support

• Identify and resolve ETL process failures in a prompt manner.

• Assist business users with data-related inquiries and issues.

• Continuous Improvement

• Keep updated on ETL tools and techniques.

• Suggest and implement enhancements to ETL processes and infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

• At least ten (10) years of experience in ETL development, preferably with SQL, focusing on load, select, and update commands.

• Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance.

• High proficiency in Linux/Unix operating systems, Sybase Database, and Sybase SQL scripting.

• Practical experience with Postgres Database, Postgres SQL scripting, SecureCRT, and SecureFX.

• Familiarity with additional technologies, such as: DBeaver, Visual Studio Code, GitLab, Wiki, JSON, Airflow, SAP Data Services, and shell scripting tools (KSH, BASH, SSH, sed, awk, Perl).
