This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.
• Oversee, maintain, and provide support for Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and AWS Redshift environments, both on‑premises and in the cloud.
• Guarantee database availability, performance, and reliability in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs) and performance criteria.
• Create, implement, and manage database maintenance tasks, including backup, restoration, patching, indexing, and housekeeping.
• Manage data lifecycle processes and establish data archiving and purging procedures.
• Proactively seek out opportunities for automation and standardization.
• Enhance operational efficiency through the use of scripting and tools.
• Ensure compliance with database security standards, leading updates and migrations for the database.
• Analyze and optimize database performance, focusing on:
• o Query tuning
• o Index strategies
• o Resource utilization
• Identify and rectify bottlenecks in high-load environments.
• Assist with capacity planning and growth forecasting.
• Serve as the database subject-matter expert for MES systems.
• Ensure that MES databases possess the necessary resources, performance, and stability.
• Collaborate closely with application and MES teams to:
• o Optimize complex queries
• o Support application modifications
• o Prevent production issues
• o Review changes to the database
• Uphold database best practices related to security, backup, recovery, and compliance.
• Assist with audits and ensure compliance with corporate IT standards.
• Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and knowledge sharing initiatives.
• Collaborate with product teams on database design throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Manage database projects within Git repositories.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database projects.
• Actively engage in incident and problem management within IT service level agreements.
• Extensive experience as a Database Administrator within enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated hands-on expertise with:
• o Microsoft SQL Server
• o PostgreSQL
• o AWS Redshift
• Strong knowledge of:
• o Constructing and optimizing SQL queries
• o Database design principles
• o High availability and disaster recovery strategies
• o Performance tuning and troubleshooting techniques
• o Backup and recovery methodologies
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, SQL, Python) are a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting mission-critical production systems.
• Experience in manufacturing, MES, or industrial IT environments is a strong asset.
