This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Assist in the development of KoBold’s proprietary software exploration tools.
• Locate and curate geophysical, geochemical, geological, and geographic data, integrating it into KoBold’s proprietary data system.
• Construct models to generate statistically valid predictions regarding the locations of compositional anomalies within the Earth’s crust.
• Develop effective visualizations for assessing model performance and facilitating swift interaction with the underlying data and key features.
• Create and implement data processing, statistical, and physics-based techniques for geoscientific data — ranging from computer vision to geophysical inversions — to guide targeting efforts and inform acquisition and exploration decisions.
• Collaborate with and present findings to external partners and stakeholders.
• Possess an advanced degree in the physical sciences, engineering, computer science, or mathematics.
• Have at least 4 years of work experience post-PhD or 8 years post-MS, preferably in roles such as data scientist or data engineer.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams in applying innovative scientific methods to address core business challenges.
• Strong technical skills with extensive experience in Python’s data science libraries and general software engineering practices.
• Familiarity with collaborative software development tools (git) and best practices including unit tests, integration test suites, and CICD pipelines.
• Proficient in utilizing cloud computing resources.
• Experience in building predictive models and applying them to various problems, along with evaluating and interpreting the results.
• Knowledge of data from diverse physical systems.
• Competence in geospatial analyses and visualizations.
