Data Scientist – Credit Eligibility

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.

📋 Description

• Designing and enhancing credit scoring models that evaluate customer creditworthiness, default risk, and loan pricing across various markets.

• Creating and assessing machine learning models for loan eligibility and pricing optimization through A/B testing and statistical evaluations.

• Continuously refining eligibility criteria by analyzing repayment data, developing new features, and monitoring credit performance for risk variations and margin effects.

• Collaborating across teams with engineers, data scientists, and commercial stakeholders to implement models into production.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in developing predictive models, specifically in credit scoring, risk modeling, or related classification/regression challenges.

• A solid background in machine learning with practical knowledge of model development, validation, deployment, and performance monitoring.

• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and applicable machine learning libraries (such as scikit-learn, pandas, numpy, etc.), along with experience in feature engineering, model selection, and hyperparameter tuning.

• Experience in translating intricate model outputs into actionable business strategies and effective stakeholder communications.

• Capability to collaborate across product, engineering, and commercial teams.

• Excellent data communication skills — written, verbal, and visual.
