📋 Description

• Collaborate with senior scientists to predict cash flows and other key business health indicators utilizing statistical and machine learning modeling.

• Create and develop models that enhance our capital products for customers and yield positive asset returns. This includes sharper pricing, reduced losses, growth, and tailored offers that align with how small and medium-sized businesses operate.

• Actively explore our datasets for valuable insights and prototype innovative models that significantly impact both customers and the business.

• Manage model outcomes comprehensively. This encompasses not only deployment tailored to the platforms supported by Pipe (for example, UberEats and Housecall Pro) but also ongoing performance monitoring, residual analysis, drift detection, and making informed decisions regarding when a model should be retrained, replaced, or retired. You will collaborate closely with product teams, risk colleagues, and engineering to bring this to fruition in a production environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in Python and the standard technology stack (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, etc.).

• Comfortable using agentic coding tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) alongside standard development tools (GitHub, VS Code).

• Strong foundational knowledge in probability, statistics, and machine learning principles.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across departments and effectively communicate progress, trade-offs, and results.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied/Financial Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a relevant technical discipline. A Master's degree is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Bonus: Previous experience in credit risk modeling, underwriting, or related risk decision sciences (such as insurance pricing, actuarial work, or fraud) is highly desirable.

🏝️ Benefits

• Top-notch equipment to support you in your role.

• Flexible vacation and work hours, promoting a healthy work-life balance (we genuinely mean it!).

• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.

• Generous parental leave policy for anyone expanding their family, irrespective of gender.

• Fantastic colleagues! We prioritize a culture of authenticity, humility, and excellence, and we encourage you to leave your mark on our culture.
