This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Design, develop, and enhance Machine Learning models that support origination, behavioral scoring, limit management, and early-warning systems.
• Utilize alternative data sources, such as transaction behavior, merchant information, and device intelligence, to boost predictive performance.
• Assess and implement the necessary infrastructure for the deployment, monitoring, and retraining of models at scale.
• Investigate the use of innovative architectures (transformers, foundational models, etc.) for addressing credit risk and related challenges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to uncover opportunities for data-driven insights and solutions.
• Partner with other members of the Credit Risk team to formulate credit policies throughout the entire customer lifecycle: origination, limit management, restructuring, and write-offs.
• Enjoy significant autonomy and ownership by managing at least one Machine Learning model from start to finish.
• Present findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A Master's degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or a similar field.
• Strong expertise in Python and SQL.
• Familiarity with Machine Learning libraries such as Scikit-Learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, Keras, and Pytorch.
• Proven experience in owning models or analytical systems from inception to completion, encompassing performance monitoring, retraining, documentation, and stakeholder alignment.
• Comfort with using AI coding assistants, such as Claude Code and Codex, to enhance productivity.
• Proficiency in data analysis, visualization, and manipulation tools like Pandas, Matplotlib, and Seaborn.
• Preferred but not mandatory: Experience in credit risk, fraud, underwriting, lending, financial services, or any other regulated decision-making domain.
• Experience with dbt (Data Build Tool) for transforming SQL data.
• Familiarity with novel, transformer-based architectures.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a creative mindset.
• Capability to communicate model trade-offs, risk implications, and business impacts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
