Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Clinical, Quality, and CDI teams to grasp operational goals and business objectives.

• Determine opportunities where data science can enhance clinical, quality, and coding/documentation improvement goals.

• Conduct statistical and machine learning analyses on clinical, claims, and various healthcare data.

• Utilize causal inference, predictive modeling, risk stratification, time-series analysis, and data visualization techniques.

• Integrate clinical intelligence and pertinent literature throughout the analytic workflow.

• Validate cohort definitions, code sets, and model features against actual clinical practices and documentation trends.

• Create and sustain SQL and Python code for reproducible analyses and production data pipelines.

• Convey analytic findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders via visualizations, presentations, and written summaries.

• Execute scripted and manual data quality assurance and validation checks for format, completeness, and accuracy.

• Adhere to security protocols and procedures to safeguard PHI, PII, and company intellectual property.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical discipline such as Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

• Over 2 years of experience implementing data science, statistics, or advanced analytics within healthcare data.

• Proficient understanding of clinical workflows and terminology.

• Familiarity with clinical vocabularies and coding systems including CPT, ICD-10-CM, SNOMED CT, RxNorm, LOINC, and NPI.

• Knowledge of healthcare operations such as care management, risk adjustment, quality enhancement, revenue cycle, prior authorization, and value-based care.

• Expertise in SQL and Python for data querying, analysis, and pipeline development.

• Basic knowledge of Bash for executing scripts.

• Applied statistics expertise including hypothesis testing, regression, model evaluation, and causal inference.

• Experience with data integration and ETL processes, including data normalization, SFTP, and API connections.

• Familiarity with Git-based source control tools like GitHub during the software development lifecycle for production code.

• Experience in data quality assurance and validation methodologies.

• Acquainted with at least one prominent cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Strong communication and presentation skills tailored for both clinical and technical audiences.

• Preferred: An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant field, or clinical licensure combined with formal data science training.

• Preferred: Over 2 years of experience in clinical care, clinical informatics, or CDI, or a degree, licensure, or certification in a related clinical domain.

• Preferred: Experience with AWS S3, Lambda, and Step Functions.

• Preferred: Familiarity with the Arcadia Analytics Foundry database.

• Preferred: Proficiency in Jira and Confluence.

• Employees are required to provide their own internet connection with a minimum of 100 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speed.

• Employees must be available during specified working hours and engage in virtual meetings with cameras on.
