Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Train, assess, and refine machine learning models for customer feedback initiatives, contributing to our tailored fine-tuning processes and conducting experiments with diligence and comprehensive documentation.

• Develop and sustain LLM-driven features such as retrieval pipelines, reranking systems, and insight generation, with guidance and support from senior team members.

• Participate in evaluation frameworks: assist in creating test sets, defining metrics, and evaluating model performance across classification, extraction, and generative tasks.

• Engage in semantic search and retrieval, gaining a robust understanding of embedding-based methods and exploring advanced techniques.

• Produce clean, thoroughly tested code while collaborating with Engineering on model integration, data pipelines, and monitoring activities.

• Collaborate with the broader Data Science team to translate business and product needs into actionable ML experiments and solutions.

• Keep abreast of pertinent research and introduce valuable concepts from literature into team discussions and experimental setups.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong practical understanding of transformer architectures and their applications in NLP tasks.

• Expertise in PyTorch, including training loops and standard model fine-tuning processes; familiarity with parameter-efficient techniques like LoRA is advantageous.

• Experience handling real-world text data across various tasks such as classification, extraction, embeddings, or search at a significant scale.

• Some experience with instruction fine-tuning or model serving, with a readiness to delve deeper.

• A foundation in traditional machine learning and statistics, coupled with the inclination to utilize simpler methods when appropriate.

• Awareness of GenAI and agentic patterns, even if your hands-on production experience is still evolving.

• Strong communication abilities and the capacity to articulate technical work to colleagues from different functions.

• A genuine interest in AI and a propensity for experimentation — you learn best through practical application.
