Data Science Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Organize the Machine Learning and AI domain within the Data team by establishing the technology stack, architecture, model governance, and MLOps best practices from the inception of the first model to large-scale operations.

• Create and deploy predictive models using our proprietary data, emphasizing content recommendation, user propensity, and the personalization of the reader's journey (including churn, reactivation, next best book, and ideal format).

• Integrate GenAI and AI agents into daily operations and products, including curation assistants, automation of internal workflows, and conversational experiences that enhance engagement and productivity.

• Hire, train, and nurture a team of data scientists, taking a pivotal role in building a team that will evolve alongside you.

• Collaborate closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, Product, Growth, and Software Engineering teams to embed models into products, the CRM, and business strategies, completing the cycle from training to monitoring, retraining, and assessing impact on metrics such as D28, MAU, and minutes consumed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in establishing Machine Learning or Data Science functions, either from the ground up or in early stages of development.

• Strong practical technical skills in ML, with expertise in Python and the contemporary data ecosystem (e.g., Databricks, AWS, SQL).

• Proven ML use cases in production and at scale that deliver measurable business impact, rather than mere proofs of concept.

• Comprehensive understanding of the entire model lifecycle: training, deployment, performance and drift monitoring, retraining, versioning, and documentation (applying MLOps in practice).

• Experimental mindset: Cultivating a culture of A/B testing, causal measurement, and evidence-based decision-making.

• Advanced or fluent proficiency in English.
